Poor Little Dove

Calling to me, the somber dove,
Begging for peace and for love.
Tears stain her feathers of white.
She longs to give up the fight.
Injured wings flutter; to no avail.
She mourns in telling the sad tale.
How she plummeted; spinning 'round,
And left her broken upon the ground.
She hangs her white head; sadly,
She recalls the one she loved madly.
How once they flew free on the wind,
Soaring high; Oh how they did.
Tragic fate tore them apart
And left her alone with a bleeding heart.
Here she stays, with no one to care,
'Cept a few like me; it just isn't fair.
There are many like her, needing love.
Few are willing; poor little dove.
I walk away after she smiles through her tears
And thanks me sweetly for lending an ear.

The tallest trees and flowing brook,
I stop to have a longer look.
So many pass by and never see,
The wonder and magic in front of me.
Too busy to care, too busy to stay,
Just rushing along throughout the day.
So much is lost when your mind is closed,
You don't feel the earth beneath your toes.
Just stop for a while, you'll be glad you did.
Just sit in the grass, or smell an orchid.
The earth is healing, it's made to be so,
To refresh and uplift you wherever you go.
I sit here and smile, the water sings,
I know how much life this picture brings.
I want to share it with you, my friend.
So sit here beside me and take it all in.
